Dianne Doherty moved to Kailua-Kona in 1979 and has been a top-producing Big Island real estate professional since 1987, including being named twice among the Top 100 Realtors in the State of Hawaii. Dianne specializes in West Hawaii real estate, especially in the Kona and Keauhou areas where she has listed and sold many multi-million dollar properties as well as homes and condos in all price ranges. She also has extensive experience in Keauhou Estates – where she and her husband, a General Contractor, now live in their third home since moving there in 1986.
Born in Minnesota, Dianne moved to the Big Island from Chico, CA, drawn by the warm water, great weather and the island’s biodiversity. “This is the weather that my father told me I would experience in Northern California, but that didn’t happen,” she says. Activities associated with the ocean – diving, snorkeling, swimming (especially swimming with dolphins), kayaking or just being on the beach to look at the water are a few of her favorite outdoor pastimes.
Upon arriving in Kona, Dianne put her background in physical plant management to work in the hotel industry, where she served as a Chief Engineer at the old Kona Hilton and then as a sales manager. She also worked at the Mauna Lani Resort as an assistant to General Manager. Before moving to Hawaii, Dianne was in charge of an employee development program for approximately 250 employees of at California State University, Chico. She also taught communication skills at a junior college and served as secretary to a University President and Vice President. Dianne attended college at San Francisco State, Chico State, Butte College, and College of the Siskiyous.
